Our procurement headquarters in Switzerland handles all green coffee raw material procurement for Strauss Coffee. Switzerland is also the home of our global knowledge base for all aspects of green coffee quality, raw material access, logistics and coffee blends.

The procurement headquarters in Switzerland works to promote issues associated with coffee fair trade and sustainable coffee production processes. We believe that coffee production processes can only be sustainable when appropriate contracts are in place, with employees’ rights upheld at all times. We also perceive saving energy and protecting the environment as part of the ongoing sustainable production of coffee.

We recently joined the 4C “Common Code for the Coffee Community Association” initiative, a global organization working to promote fair trade in the “mainstream” green coffee chain, and to increase the quantity of coffee that meets the basic standards of fair transactions, civil rights, protection of the environment and the economy.

Presence in Vietnam

in 2001 Strauss Commodities AG signed an exclusive agreement with Mr. Hoang T. Nguyen, a local Vietnamese coffee expert, to oversee Strauss Coffee’s green coffee procurement activities in the world’s second largest coffee-producing country. The main activities include ensuring compliance with Vietnamese regulations, on-site inspections of crop quality, approval of samples before shipment, quality control during the loading of coffee at the port, administrative follow-up of vessel bookings and management of sailing schedules to ensure on-time shipments.
